T REX

Lord only knows why we haven't blogged about these guys before, but hey, here they are.

UK based Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, described as "playful electro underpineed by seismic bassline", list a load of totally enormous extinct dinosaurs in their MySpace band members. Of Course.

Behind the mystery and eccentricity though lies some rather massive tunes. A sure fire hit on the festival circuit this summer.

Mamma M.I.A.

A new take on her new single.

Current album is helped out by Rusko on production duties, and when she's not busy killing gingers (joke) or volleying tirades at journos, she's generally creating some quite good tunes.

Not usually one for changing a winning formula, but this remix kinda works in a slightly twisted way...

Na na na naaaa naaaa

Frisky. Just can't get enough of this tune now - Tinnie appears to be able to do wrong at the moment: this is a dead cert #1.

You should also check out SBTRKT's mix of his last single "Pass Out". Rising from the 2-step/future garage scene. Little known about him at the moment, apart from the fact he wears a Jumaji mask and has done a few collabs with Sinden on his new label Grizzly in the form of 'Midnight Marauder' and 'Kind Of Familiar'.

Devilishly Good

New Chems track gets a rather epic re-edit from Don Diablo. The new album from Ed and Tom is out in a few weeks and we've posted both Ecsape Velocity anf the orginal of this track before, but this mix is worth a mention too.

Don Diablo has done mixes for Public Enemy, Mika, Cassius, Iggy Pop, Newton Faulkner and Laidback Luke and has is soon to be releasing his own album, prob later this year.

The latest remixers that I've fallen in love with, Mighty Mouse aka Matthew & Colin, who only began reworking tunes a couple of years ago. Their longstanding friendship and djing/production skills have led to remixes for Robbie Williams, Little Boots and Fenech Soler to name but a few. They're getting a live show going too and will be touring soon, releasing a few tunes and an album on Herve's Cheap Thrills label imminently.

Their mix of Ali Love is prob one of my fav tracks to warm up the floor at the mo, and the Gorillaz one ain't half bad either.

New M.I.A. - Born Free

M.I.A. - Born Free

Too Many good things to put up...

...so here is just a couple...for now...

UNICORN KID

Lloving this first real special slice of 8 bit dubstep from Oli Sabin aka Unicorn Kid. Dream Catcher has been getting much love from the specialist UK radio personalities liek Zane Lowe, Hugh Stephens and Rob Da Bank to name but a few. More tunes on the way but download this IMMEDIATELY. It's rather nice and refreshing.

Unicorn Kid - Dream Catcher by Ministry of Sound

TEMPER TRAP - REMIXED!

Yes yes, we know, nothing new here, but Mr Anglo span it on Saturday when Anglo Franko (us) played out with Olly from Filthy Dukes at the Bleep Test in Reading, where we our residents no less. We had a jolly nice time and this track went down a treat. RAC doing a nice little rework here. Also known as Andre Anjos, you can find more info about him here.

Spring is defo, erm, springing...

The return of Sidney Samson. A tad different to the last infamous outing, Fil U Up is a suitable all guns blazing club epic, suitable for the upcoming summer and Ibiza season. Not sure it quite has the cross genre appeal as Riverside, but it's nae bad. Ultimately, good to know he isn't a one trick pony.

1. Chemical Brothers - Escape Velocity

Absolutely Epic. A lengthy, mighty hard core psychedelic rave. The album "Further" comes out in early June, and will have a video to accompany every track. Wozers.

2. LCD Soundsystem - Drunk Girls

James & Co are back, and sounding more gloriously punky and lively than ever.

Eggcellent

OK, shit Title to this post but I couldn't help myself. I am a man merely of simple humour and pleasures.

So yesterday avo, upon a wee walk of the Southbank promenade, conversations ensued with a friend about the ultimate chillout/come down/ Sunday morn tunage. And then I remembered I recently discovered these guys...

Doing a little research on Space Ranger shows that this German Trio have had a pretty good innings between them thus far, bringing out remixes for Kool & the Gang, Sugababes, Kurtis Blow. Now though, they're focusing on there own tunes. Please file under Low-Rider Disco House.

A couple of tunes in a particular have been doing the rounds. My personal fave, Herbal Cake and also Phase Fever, which has been on Aeroplane's March Chart Mix.

NOOOOIIIIIIZZZZZZZEEEE

Afternoon all. Good Weekend I trust?

So this appears to be one of corkers coming out of Miami this year. A catchy wee synth riff to it, a fair few DJs have been raving about it, aside from hangin with Diddy in his mansion. Cos thats what you do when you go to Miami innit.

Jan's been knocking about for a while, done a fair few remixes n' that (see his MySpace for the all his particulars) and this track comes on Boys Noize Records latest release Miami Noize comp, along with tracks from D.I.M, Housemseister and Boys Noize too.

Jan Driver - Telly Foam (via Russian Adults)

Twisted on a Wedensday?

Without doubt, Erol Alkan and Boys Noize are on fire. Waves/Death Suite was one of the releases of 2009 and now they kick of 2010 rather nicely.

This 2nd collaboration between the two this time crops up on Phantasy and you can get it now on Beatport. The build up on Avalanche is superb and then comes the twisted nature of Lemondade. Mezin.

The two will also be spinning tunes in Miami this weekend. Not forgetting also, Erol's 7 hour set at Bugged Out in London next Thursday @ Fire in Vauxhall.

Should be nice.

Metric Returneth

It was criminal how the last Metric record didn't get more love, really it was, one of the albums of 2009 by a long, long way.

Anyhow, looks like the band are gonna give it another go in 2010, with a show at Shepherd's Bush Empire in May.

ALSO, they have some news tunes coming. Again, more beautiful slices of pop, the first of which, "Black Sheep", will be used in the new Scott vs Pilgirm film by Edgar Wright.

Check out the new tracks here (via skipster)

And, for old times sake, Monster Hospital (Mstrkrft remix)

18/03/2010

So it's nearly the end of the week...

... and for me it's becoming a bit of a grind untill we get to the weekend.

But then the new track from Holy Fuck appeared and all is well again. leaked out over the net a few days ago, it's a taster of things to come from their upcoming album "Chatroulette". Sounds incredibly exciting. Heavily layered synth, a nicely chuggin beat to it. Rather Four Tet like if you will. Its well worth a listen.

Holy Fuck - Latin America (via Real HorrorShow Tunes)

Your Saturday morning lie-in will come a lot quicker after you listen to this. Promise.

Sporting some lovely paper party hats, we arrived to Sebastain. He utterly nailed it. Busy P followed to really let the side down, set was a little all over the place. But then Fake Blood. Wow. Technically amazing and he djed like a motherF***** impeccable track listing, keeping it all going - a perfect peak time set.

Friday night's alright

So we had some fun last night at Fabric with Kill Em All. Your usual mix of indie kids, scenos, chavs and your "I only came out for a few drinks after work, where am I?" All in all though, good bunch of good peeps.

HIghlights have to be Kieran Hebden from Four Tet who put down an amazing mix, even playing the classic Sweet Like Chocolate by none other than Shanx and Bigfoot. And you know, in a funny way, it kinda actually worked! James Holden afterwards rammed Room 2 and we had a little mosh.

Erol smashed it in the main room, Crookers - We Are Animals kicking tings off, but when Hot Chip came on, the people went mad...

Next stop.... http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=195120206929&index=1....check out the link, some good mixes on there..
